Hi, my name is Jordan Chanler-Berat an Emergency Medicine doctor  in Brooklyn, we have had some correspondence in the past and I am contacting you now because the situation with the Bonobo species in the Congo has become dire and in the struggle working to protect them I see promise in a mutually beneficial relationship with your company.  As Bonobos truly are the "forgotten ape" they need to revive their image, somewhat like a customer approaching your company.  An organization called Bonobo Conservation Initiative (BCI) is working hard to do just that, to raise awareness of the species’ battle for survival, but they need help. Watching your company flourish since we last spoke has been inspiring and from recent events I’ve been reading about, Bonobos is on a path to enormous success.

Many great companies have teamed up to support non-profit organizations, and for good reason. For example, Pampers donates one tetanus vaccine through UNICEF for each package of diapers purchased. In 2008, a Cone Corporate Citizenship study found, among many other positive results, that 79% of Americans said they would likely switch brand loyalty if a brand is associated with a good cause. With the right partnership, you could pull the ever-growing socially and globally conscious customers your way.

Bonobos has the “it” factor. I’ve got a pair of Washed Chinos myself, they even make my notoriously flat ass look good! There is no doubt that you guys have done something fantastic, even after starting with 400 pairs of pants hanging on your apartment walls. Your passion for getting behind good ideas is clear, evidenced by your founding of an angel investment firm. While Bonobo Conservation Initiative’s successes are not of monetary value, these innocent cousins of ours are in desperate need of an angel of their own. I think BCI is a good idea you can get behind, and I have no doubt that if partnered with these compassionate, smart, and sexy animals, your company can grow confidently.

Please contact me whenever convenient for you. I would love to sit down and chat.

Also, we would like to invite you to an evening of cocktails, hors d’oeuvres this coming July.. This night is an opportunity for the leadership of BCI to tell you more about who they are, what they do, why it is crucial, and how you can help.

Bonobos

Mr. Mutombo,

I am an American physician from Brooklyn, New York and as you have worked tirelessly to improve the health, stability, and natural beauty of the DRC I too share in that goal.

I work with an organization called the Bonobo Conservation Initiative, which works primarily based out of a small region of villages within Equateur province called Kokolopori. Though the organization's main mission is protection of the precious creature called the Bonobo (which is only found in the DRC, and is endangered), the group works to attain this goal by focusing on the needs of the people in this impoverished region.

We have already protected massive swaths of land as nature preserves protecting Bonobos and local human villages from industrial encroachment and destruction.  We have created a technical college, agricultural programs, and have brought hope for economic improvement.

Most importantly, and dear to my heart (and likely yours too as you are passionate about healthcare access) is the Bonobo Conservation Initiative human health clinic which provides needed basic medical services to these rural villagers. Currently it is rudimentary, but plans are in place to dramatically improve the clinic's capabilities should funding improve.

This is where you come in. We would like to cordially invite you to our fundraising and educational event in New York City on Wednesday February 19th 2014 (See attached invitation).  Your connection to your people, and your passion for healthcare access in the Congo is so crucial to improving life in your country. A donation of any size from you or your foundation would help tremendously. Just your presence at our event would be greatly appreciated. Please let us know if you are able to come.
